DEVELOPMENT OF A PYTHON PIPELINE FOR AUTOMATIC DETERMINATION OF THE AGE AND DISTANCE OF STAR CLUSTERS FROM PHOTOMETRIC DATA FROM THE SLOAN DIGITAL SKY SURVEY

An automated pipeline was developed in Python to determine the distance and age of star clusters from photometric data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The algorithm performs, in an integrated manner, data filtering, construction of the color-magnitude diagram (CMD), main sequence (MS) extraction, automatic identification of the turn-off point, and reading of isochrones from the Dartmouth Stellar Evolution Database. The distance modulus is estimated using a color-magnitude matching routine, which calculates m − M by statistical minimization. Applied to the cluster NGC 2266, the pipeline obtained µ = 14.43 (distance of 7.7 kpc) and better compatibility with a 1.2 Gyr isochrone for solar metallicity. The results agree with manual adjustments, validating the approach.
